Sappho for Equality

Sappho for Equality is a Kolkata-based nonprofit founded in 2003 that works for the rights of lesbians, bisexual women and trans men in Eastern India, and is the only registered LGBTQ+ organisation based in Kolkata. It runs a drop-in centre, counselling and legal-assistance helpline, a community library, and DALIL, a digital archive on LGBTQ+ issues, alongside advocacy against discrimination and gender-based violence.
