MukkaMaar prepares adolescent girls from marginalised communities to recognise and resist violence, treating microaggressions, discrimination, threats and loss of opportunity as part of the same problem as assault. Its flagship MukkaMaar Girls programme is a three-year self-defence course run in schools in Mumbai and Delhi, taught by combat sportspeople trained through the MukkaMaar Fellowship, and extended by a WhatsApp-based service, MukkaMaar with Mukki, that reaches girls across several states.
